You Won’t Be Seeing Any More Social Media Posts From Us

Here's Why (From the Owner, John)

For years, I have built social media accounts. My first business began as a social media account, called Tiny Whiteboard Workouts. I wrote workouts for people on little whiteboards and posted them to Instagram.

Then, I created an account for my speed and agility training business. Then another one for the fitness app that I built. Then another for health and fitness advice, where I gained 40,000 followers and millions of views on my silly fitness videos.

And despite all of the hard work, weekends wasted, and views gained, it hardly brought me any business. I felt like I was feeding a machine that was insatiable. A machine that constantly promised amazing results if I just kept posting and stayed consistent. I felt like I was being told that if I just spent a little more money on social media ads, the impressions I would get would bring me the clients I’d been searching for. But despite years of posting consistently and tens of thousands of dollars spent on ads, all it brought me was a loss of time and money I’ll never get back.

However, in the background, which should have been the foreground, Galaxy Fit Lab grew organically. It grew from people finding me online, getting referrals from their friends, and walking by as they went out to eat with their family. None of these marketing strategies cost me a dollar. They saved me that time and money I wasted by posting online. And it also gave me something I was losing with social media: honesty.

When any business posts to social media, they are never telling you the full truth. A gym will post their busiest hour, even if the rest of their day is quiet. They will post their clients best set, even if the rest of their workout was a mess. And they will tell you they have this amazing 6-Week Challenge at an AMAZING price if you just BUY TODAY. But really, it’s an overpriced dumpster fire that you’ll regret buying.

I know this because I’ve done all of these things. And I hated every time I ever did it. And I’m sorry to all of the people who I oversold a promise that I didn’t deliver. Social media compels you to do these things. To be dishonest. To show everyone a version of yourself or your business that isn’t a part of this reality. And it’s time I, and Galaxy Fit Lab, step away.

We no longer want to be a part of what Instagram, Facebook, and Meta are involved in. The radicalization, the depression, the “influencing.” We just want to be a great gym that does our best to make people stronger. And we want to deliver that experience to you without also occasionally shoving a camera in your face while you’re struggling on squats for our daily Instagram Story.

So, you won’t see any more posts here. But don’t worry, we are very much alive, doing better than ever, and serving more people amazing personal training experiences than ever. Our website and newsletter are constantly being updated with content if content is what you want. But really, just come to our gym. Because we prefer having human experiences over digital ones.

See you soon!
